Rowena is a British artist who grew up in London in the 80s. Her early years were formed riding her bike around with her brother and playing with the neighbourhood kids. To this sensitive little soul, London was a busy vibrant world; It was hard-working parents, noisy traffic and concrete streets. It was punks and skinheads, rastas and sikhs, all bustling along side by side; with markets full of indian spices and cheery cockney voices selling their fruit and veg. It was buses full of people, bakers full of warm fresh bread and music blasting out across the smoggy airwaves. As a small child her zen was in making mud pies in the garden, reading books or drawing. As she grew she would spend hours in her room, drawing, making and playing. This was encouraged by her father, as she joined him in exploring shared interests such as painting, calligraphy, woodwork, leatherwork and sculpting polymer clay.

At College, Rowena studied Painting and History of Art, followed by an Arts Foundation Course and a degree in TV and Film Design. She spent the following 17 years as a Motion Graphics Designer and Editor. Discovering her love of Bonsai in 2018, it didn't take long before Rowena rediscovered an interest in pottery again, and this time it wasn't going to just be the odd evening class. Rowena is now creating Bonsai Pottery and exploring everything clay has to offer.
